Apr 15, 2017 · Smoke Composites forms a ring at the front of the handguard, I would guess to protect the front from getting chipped, it would be quite thin otherwise. The inside of the ring measured 1.53 inches, so some suppressors will fit inside the handguard. Don't worry about heat when doing this, the carbon fiber mitigates heat great! That is one thing I like about Coda: torquing the barrel nut to spec doesn't impact aligning the handguard. The only issue I have - which is different in the Faxon and Smoke Composites - is there are just thin holes in the carbon fiber with little bolts holding it to the metal mounting ring. I fear flexing will tear up those little holes.

I have a smoke composites for both of my AR 308 and wwsd. It is a very nice handguard, very light, titanium barrel nut. My only word of advice is not to get it cerekoted, because it is a bitch to get back on

I'm running the handguard and stock on my GMR-15. Handguard was as heavy as the stock barrel nut, so i removed like 11 ozs from the front of the gun. Stock is very adjustable and feels great against the shoulder.
