During the June 2008 Board of Directors meeting in Keystone, Immediate Past Chairman of the Board Fred Slunecka was thanked for his year as the organization's leader and recognized for his many contributions.

 

During Fred's tenure as chairman of the board, the organization went through a thorough review of policies and practices, including a self-assessment survey of board members.  The process resulted in a streamlined board meeting agenda and more effective discussion of issues.  Additionally, the June 2007 board meeting was devoted to a planning session, which included a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis of the overall organization.  The results confirmed the State Chamber’s strengths as its lobbying efforts, credibility within the business community, and programming.  The process also determined our current public policy focus on workforce development issues and continued emphasis on membership development, from an internal operations standpoint.

Fred has been actively involved with on-going membership development, organizational communications and was a founding sponsor and chairman of the CEO Roundtable series (which has evolved to the current Economic Outlook series).  He continues to serve as chairman of that program.
